//RIDER PROFILE: EDIE
1// Why do you like riding?
I love getting outside, riding fast and overtaking my dad.
2// When did you join LEC and how long have you been riding?
I joined LEC in 2020 and have been riding since I was about three or four when I used to ride around the park. Once I hit a pebble-dashed wall and had a pebble stuck in my head. I had to go to A&E for stitches. I still have the scar. (I crash a lot.)
3// What type of racing have you done for LEC?
Loads! I started with road racing at the London Youth Games then Spring in the Park. This autumn I am riding the Go Ride series and cyclocross in the South East and London League. I’ve also ridden track at Herne Hill and the Olympic Velodrome, that was a really special day and the corners were steep (I can say I crashed on one).
4// Which type of racing do you like best and why?
I don’t know. I just love riding my bike.
5// Which race has been your favourite and why?
My favourite race was Herne Hill. It wasn’t my highest finish (yep, I crashed) but I loved the course.
6// What is your best skill that you have learnt riding with LEC?
How to remount — jump back on your bike — after a steep hill or hurdles. (Thanks for the tips Rianna!)
7// Can you describe what you like about the club training session?
I‘ve learnt to ride safely, the coaches are kind and I get to chat to my friends.
8// In three words, how would you describe your club mates?
They are kind, friendly and supportive.
9// In three words, how would you describe the club?
The. Green. Machine.
10// When you are not cycling what else do you like to do?
I like to play with my friends and go the cinema. I swim for a club in Bromley. I also sing in a choir — which is useful for cheering on my teammates!
